Kingsville - The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team returns to the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center on Friday for an 11 a.m. exhibition match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as the Javelinas continue their early-season preparation.
The Javelinas have opened 2026 with consecutive victories, defeating Collin College 7-0 in Plano on Thursday and Southern Arkansas University 7-0 in Dallas on Saturday. The strong start has given Kingsville early momentum as they prepare for a challenging stretch of matches.
Friday's opponent presents a formidable test. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi enters the exhibition riding a perfect 8-0 record, establishing themselves as one of the region's hottest teams early in the season. The Islanders' undefeated start makes them an ideal measuring stick for the Javelinas as they look to continue their winning form and develop team chemistry ahead of conference play.Â
While the match won't count toward the official record, it offers valuable court time against quality competition before the heart of the season begins.
The exhibition serves as crucial preparation before Kingsville embarks on a demanding three-day road trip to Georgia later this month. The Javelinas will face Augusta University on Feb. 26, Emmanuel on Feb. 27, and Georgia College on Feb. 28, all in Milledgeville, Georgia. Testing themselves against a strong Texas A&M-Corpus Christi squad will help the team refine their game before the lengthy road stretch.
