Landaeta, Tocci Named LSC Preseason Players to Watch

Kingsville – The Lone Star Conference has named two Texas A&M–Kingsville athletes to its Preseason Tennis Players to Watch list, recognizing standout talent within the Javelina tennis program.

"Both athletes are deserving of the recognition from the conference," Head Coach Autumn Williams said. "They both had a great Fall season."

Sophomore Andrea Landaeta earned a spot as an LSC Player to Watch after being ranked No. 7 in the ITA Fall Regional Rankings. She finished the fall season strong, defeating multiple seeded opponents and reaching the quarterfinals of the ITA Small College Regional Championship.

Landaeta has quickly emerged as a key player for the Javelinas following an impressive freshman campaign in which she demonstrated consistency, confidence, and the ability to win crucial points.

In the LSC Quarterfinals, she earned the team's only point with a 7–6 (7–2), 6–1 victory at the No. 6 singles position. With her skill, focus, and steady improvement, Landaeta is poised to be a major contributor for Kingsville this season.

Senior Guadalupe Tocci was named a Lone Star Conference Player to Watch as she enters her final season with the Javelinas. Ranked No. 9 in the ITA Fall Regional Rankings, she reached the round of 16 at the ITA Small College Championship and brings valuable experience and leadership to the squad.

Tocci made an immediate impact in her first season at Texas A&M–Kingsville after transferring, earning LSC Newcomer of the Year honors. She finished 12–6 in singles, including an 8–4 mark at the No. 1 position, and posted a 5–5 mark in conference singles along with a 5–4 record in conference doubles.

Tocci was also named Honorable Mention All-LSC Singles and earned a spot on the All-LSC Academic Team.

"They've created enough momentum throughout the year to propel them into the Spring," Williams said. "I'm excited to coach them this season."

The Javelinas open their 2026 season this Sunday at the Javelina Tennis Courts, facing UTRGV at 1:00 p.m.
