Javelinas open fall season at the Brother Al Invitational

Kingsville - The Texas A&M Kingsville Women's Tennis team will begin the season in San Antonio, Texas, at the Brother Al Invitational hosted by St. Mary's University.

The tournament will take place Friday and go through Sunday, featuring bracket play with six teams participating. This will be the second time the Javelinas are participating in the tournament as St. Mary's is going on their third year of hosting the tournament to open the season.

"The first weekend of competition is always a shock to the nerves," Head Coach Autumn Wollenzien, who is entering her 12th year as Head Coach for the Javelinas, said. "But it's all good because we get some matches under our belt and play some great teams. The experience will be good, no matter the outcome."

The team is coming off a 12-8 season, the best record for the Javelinas since 2018-19 where they went 12-8 as well. The team also earned a berth in the LSC Tournament as the 5th seed.

This year's team is bringing back five returners and three new faces to the program making up the 8-man roster this year.

The tournament will see TAMUK, Texas Lutheran, Our Lady of the Lake, Trinity, Incarnate Word and the host St. Mary's.
