Arlington - In a Thursday-afternoon battle with the No.4-seed UT-Tyler Patriots for a spot in the Lone Star Conference Quarterfinals, the Texas A&M - Kingsville women's tennis team fell, 4-1.
The match was played until the clinching fourth-point was won, so the No.1 and No.2 singles, as well as the No.3 doubles court, did not get a chance to finish out their matches.Freshman
Andrea Landaeta represented the Javelinas' lone point, winning 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 on the No.6 court.Â
UT-Tyler started the day by picking up wins on the No.1 and No.2 doubles courts, as junior
Guadalupe Tocci and senior
Manuela Turolo lost 6-3 in the No.1 spot and the freshmen pairing of Landaeta and
Annalena Noll lost 6-1 on the second court.
Noll also lost in singles play, falling 4-6, 2-6 on the No.3 court. Junior
Annika Andersson Gomez lost 4-6, 3-6 on the four singles court while senior
Manuela Turolo lost 2-6, 4-6 on the No.5 court. Junior
Guadalupe Tocci was fighting in a second set on court one and graduate student
Luna Jokanovic was battling in a third set on the No.2 court.Â
The team finishes its season 12-8 overall, and 6-5 in LSC play.
