San Angelo - In its second match in as many days, the Texas A&M - Kingsville women's tennis team fell, 5-2, to the No.13 Angelo St. Rambelles on the road.
Kingsville had one four straight matches heading into the contest, including a golden match sweep of Sul Ross St. in the team's first Lone Star Conference match of the year yesterday.
The Javelinas split the doubles point, winning on the third court as graduate student
Luna Jokanovic and junior
Kaitlin Blount combined to get a 6-3 win. Junior
Guadalupe Tocci and senior Mauela Turolo lost 6-0 in the one spot, while the freshman combo of Andrea Landaera and
Annalena Noll lost 6-3 on the second court.
Both of TAMUK's points came in singles play, as Jokanovic got a win over Angelo's No.2, 1-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2. Turolo fought hard for her win as well, taking down the Rambelles' No.5, 6-4, 7-6 (2). Kingsville made it very close on the other courts, once again playing a competitive match against ASU, but ultimately lost all of the other singles matches.Â
Tocci lost in the No.1 spot, 6-7 (5), 3-6, while Noll lost 3-6, 2-6 in the three slot. Landaeta lost 2-6, 6-7 (8) at No.4, while junior
Annika Andersson Gomez, playing as the No.6, lost 2-6, 2-6.
The Javelinas will now have some time off before they hit the courts again for a pair or matches in Florida on March 18th and 19th.
