Women’s tennis travelling to Alpine, San Angelo, for LSC openers

Kingsville - Riding a three-match win streak, the Texas A&M - Kingsville women's tennis team heads on the road once again, this time to open up Lone Star Conference play with matches against Sul Ross St. and No.13 Angelo St..

TAMUK has, including Thursday's matchup with the Lobos and Friday's with the Rambelles, four more matches on the road before the team returns to Kingsville for its home opener, a noon contest against UT-Tyler on March 27th. Until that match against the Patriots, this weekend's are the Javelinas only LSC matches.

"Starting with Sul Ross and Angelo St. will fortunately give us a good start and gauge," Head Coach Autumn Wollenzien said. "We have been looking forward to playing this week for a while."

After a difficult road trip to start the season, the Javelinas snapped their three-game losing streak with a win streak to match, which has seen the team take down Emmanuel, Augusta, and Louisiana Christian while losing just three total points across the matches. The team will ride that momentum into Thursday's match against SRS, which is in its first year back at the D2 level.

"We've never been to Alpine, so we are looking forward to the experience of playing there," Wollenzien said. "We have always had competitive matches with Angelo and we expect nothing less."

SRS has only played one match so far this season, an LSC-matchup in Silver City, where the Lobos lost 7-0 on Saturday. Angelo is undefeated this season, sitting at 8-0, including a pair or ranked wins, and is ranked No.13 in the nation.

First serve in both Thursday's match with the Lobos and Friday's with the Rambelles are set for noon.
