Indianapolis, IN - Competing with their largest group ever, all 16 Javelina athletes from the Texas A&M - Kingsville women's and men's track and field teams that competed in the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships finished as an All-American thai weekend.
Kingsville produced five first-team All-American individual performances, three individual second-teams, and both a first- and a second-team relay performance.Â
"Even though we didn't score as many points as a team as we wanted, every athletes we brought to the meet is going home as a first- or second-team All-American," Head Coach
Ryan Dall said.
The first Javelina to put on an All-American performance was senior
Katryna Hernandez, who finished eighth in the women's shot put with a throw of 15.10m. Fresh off of a performance that won her the Outstanding Field Athlete Award at the Lone Star Conference Championship meet, Hernandez - who owns Kingsville's Indoor record in the event - added even more hardware to her collection.
TAMUK's stellar throwing season continued later that day as the shot put event on the men's side produced two different All-Americans. Much like Hernandez, senior Ronald Grueso Mosqueda followed up an Outstanding Field Athlete Award with a first-team All-American showing on Saturday. He threw 17.92m, placing sixth in the event. Not far behind him was freshman
David Guzman, who threw 17.47m, placed 11th and earned a spot on the All-American second team.
The field performances kept on rolling in, as the men's shot put proved to be one of three different field events where Kingsville put up multiple All-American performances. In the women's high jump, the duo of Madisons struck again. Junior
Madison Ramos led the way, finishing as a first-team All-American, clearing 1.75m, a new school record, and tying for the eighth spot. Graduate student
Madison Alegria's 1.67m-clearing jump earned her a tie for 12th place and a spot on the All-American second team.
The final event to produce multiple All-Americans was the men's pole vault, as senior
Thomas Nieto placed eighth, clearing 5.24m and bringing home another first team All-American plaque. Junior
Django Segovia's 5.14m vault earned him 11th place and the second team All-American title.
Continuing on a phenomenal season that has already seen her break the indoor school record in the event, senior
Jazmin Ray became a second team All American in the women's triple jump. She produced yet another 12-meter jump, leaping 12.18m and placing 12th.
The women's 400m saw senior
Cynai Christopher start a spectacular day. She placed eighth, having earned her spot in the event's finals with a seventh-place finish on Thursday, becoming a first team All-American with a run of 54.08. That, however, wasn't the end for her on Saturday. She also ran the anchor leg of the women's 4x400m relay, joining the history-making crew of senior
Vitiana Robert and freshmen
Sakara Wade and
Oneika Brissett to run a 3:41.37 and place sixth in the event.
The day ended with a second team All-American race from the men's 4x400m relay team. The team of senior
Sterling Riles, and juniors
Tony Benitez,
Cody Fountain, and
Taylor Chaney, who, like their female counterparts, own the program's indoor record in the event, placed ninth with a 3:12.40.Â
With the indoor season officially wrapped up, the Javelinas will look ahead to Saturday, when they send a team to San Antonio for the UT-San Antonio Invite as the outdoor season gets underway.
