Virginia Beach, VA - All eight athletes that the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's and men's track and field teams sent to Virginia for the 2026 NCAA D2 Indoor National Championships are coming back as All-Americans, including six First Team All-Americans, as the women's team takes its highest finish since 2019
The women's team finished tied for 29th in the nation, just 1.5 points behind its 24th-place finish in 2019.Â
"We had a really good weekend," Head Coach
Ryan Dall said. "I'm very proud of all the athletes that competed. Very happy for the women finishing top 30 in the country. It was the last race for
Michael Samihamba as a Javelina. We will miss him greatly. He's been a tremendous relay runner for us for a long time."
Oneika Brissett | Jr. | Women's 400m, 200m
In her first trip to Nationals as an individual, Brissett showed out, and will return to South Texas with two new All-American titles. She finished as a First Team All-American in the 400m, placing sixth in the nation with a 54.17, after qualifying for the Finals on Friday with a 54.08, the new second-fastest time in school history.
She also finished as a Second Team All-American in the 200m, running a 24.16 to take 14th place. Brissett is now a three-time Indoor All-American, adding her two new honors to a First Team All-American finish in the 4x400m relay last year.
Madison Ramos | Sr. | Women's High Jump
Ramos closed out her indoor career by adding a second First Team All-American title to her collection. She cleared a bar set at 1.76m, tying her own school record and earning her a fifth-place finish. Just two weeks ago, at her final Indoor Conference Championship, Ramos earned gold at the Lone Star Conference Championship.Â
She topped her finish at last year's Indoor National Championship in both height and placement (1.75m, eighth in 2025).Â
Men's 4x400m Relay | Joseph Mouaha, Fr. | Tony Benitez, Sr. | Darius Bouakel, Jr. | Michael Samihamba, Gr.
The 4x400m relay squad of Mouaha, Benitez, Bouakel, and Samihamba earned First Team All-American honors with a seventh place finish, running a 3:10.95. Both Benitez and Samihamba each close out their indoor careers by adding to an already packed trophy case. The race was the final one as a Javelina for Samihamba, who was a member of the school-record-holding 4x400m relay team in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. He is a two-time Indoor First-Team All-American (2022, 2026).
Benitez was also a member of TAMUK's school-record-holding 4x4 crew in both indoor and outdoor. He does have a season of outdoor eligibility left, but finishes his indoor career as a two-time First Team All-American (2025, 2026).
For both Bouakel and Mouaha, the All-American finish is the first of their careers. This same crew of four set the program's all-time record in the event when it won gold at the LSC Indoor Championship two weeks ago.
DaTavus Pope | Jr. | Men's 60mÂ
In his first season as a Javelina, Pope took home his first NCAA D2 All-American honor, finishing as a Second Team All-American. Pope, who holds the second-fastest time run in the 60m in school history, finished just two hundredths of a second off of that time on Friday, running a 6.73 and placing 14th. The time was also just three hundredths of a second off of the eighth spot, which would have qualified him for Saturday's event finals.
Kenzie Kurdys | Jr. | Women's Pole Vault
Kurdys finished off her first season in the blue and gold as a Second-Team All-American, clearing a bar set at 3.77m, and placing 16th. The performance comes just two weeks after she broke the school record in the event to both earn gold at the LSC Indoor Championship, and qualify her for nationals.Â
