Kingsville - After another standout weekend, senior right side hitter/setter
Rylan Pollard brought home the second Lone Star Conference Setter of the Week award of her season, leading the Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team to a pair of wins and helping the squad clinch a spot in the LSC Tournament.
She becomes the fourth Javelina all-time to earn two LSC Setter of the Week awards in a season, and the first since the spring of 2021. In the team's two wins this weekend (3-0 over University of Texas-Tyler, and 3-0 over University of Texas-Dallas), Pollard averaged a stellar 6.33 assists/s, 3.16 kills/s, 3.00 digs/s, and .83 blocks/s while also adding three total aces across the weekend.Â
In the first match of the weekend, Pollard added the ninth triple-double of her season, adding to her healthy lead on any other individual in the nation. Against UT-Tyler in three sets she collected 19 assists,11 kills, 10 digs and two blocks, and had 19 assists, eight kills, eight digs, three blocks, and three service aces in three sets against UT-Dallas.
Pollard and the rest of the Javelinas' season will close out their regular season on the road this weekend as TAMUK heads to Angelo State University on Friday (6:00 p.m.) and University of Texas-Permian Basin on Saturday (1:00 p.m).
