Allen-Gonzalez, Javelinas clinch 12th straight winning season

Kingsville - After a key win over the Patriots in Dallas, the Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team and Head Coach Tanya Allen-Gonzalez have clinched an over-.500 season for the 12th-straight year.

The team now sits at 15-7 with a 7-5 record in Lone Star Conference play after taking down Dallas Baptist in four sets, helping place the Javelinas in a strong position to nab a spot in the LSC Tournament. That win makes it impossible for the Javelinas to finish with an overall record below .500, making this season the 12th straight that the team will close out the year with a winning record, which is the longest such streak in program history.

Prior to Allen-Gonzalez taking the mantle ahead of the 2011 season, no Javelina Head Coach had held the title for more than six seasons. It took her less than five to become the program's winningest coach all time, and she has since built up countless program coaching records, including her all-time winning percentage with the Javelinas, which sits just shy of .600 and is the highest mark in Hog history. The veteran Head Coach topped 250 wins with the indoor Javelina crew early this year and now sits at 264 all-time with the program.

Allen-Gonzalez and the Javelinas will return to the SPEC this weekend for another crucial match as they host the Dustdevils from Texas A&M-International at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The match will be Halloween themed, and costumes are strongly encouraged for all fans. There will be a costume contest held on the court in between the second and third sets.
