Ellensburg, WA - Off a massive win at home against Angelo State, Texas A&M-Kingsville hits the road to take on another ranked opponent in No. 10 Central Washington University at Tomlinson Field Saturday at 8:00 pm CT.
The Javelinas (3-3, 2-2 LSC) travel up the northwest coast to take on a Wildcat (5-1, 4-0 LSC) that is playing its best ball of the season, taking down top-flight contenders in the conference in Angelo State and UT-Permian Basin. Texas A&M-Kingsville now has the opportunity to make a statement in the LSC by taking down Central Washington in their building.
To do so, the Javelinas will need a similar offensive performance as they did against the Rams last week, totaling 434 yards with no turnovers. Quarterback
Jack Turner turned in a clean game, tossing for 294 passing yards with a touchdown and no interceptions.
True freshman
Edward Chumley had his breakout game last week for the Javelinas, rushing for 150 yards on 28 carries with a pair of touchdowns. His second touchdown of the game would be a 27-yard scamper into the endzone to put the game away for the Javelinas. That performance against the Rams would reward Chumley with the conference's offensive player of the week award.
On the other side of the ball, the Javelina defense will need to slow down the rushing attack of the Wildcats, who lead the conference with 270 rushing yards per game. Central Washington also boasts the two leading rushers in the conference with quarterback Kennedy McGill (455 yards) and running back Justice Taylor (450 yards).
The offensive line for the Wildcats has been a major factor in the offensive success that CWU has had thus far this season, as the unit has only given up four sacks total this season. It will be up to the defensive front of the Javelinas, who have recorded at least one sack in every game thus far this season, to slow down the Wildcat offense. Defensive end
Tre Robbins has led the way, notching three sacks thus far this season.
Kickoff for Saturday's contest is set for 8:00 pm CT from Ellensburg. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the game at JavelinaFB on X.
