Kingsville - Texas A&M-Kingsville outpaced Eastern New Mexico to get its first win of 2026, 53-22, Saturday from Javelina Stadium.
Texas A&M-Kingsville (1-2, 1-0 LSC) put up a season-high 56Â points with 480Â yards to total offense and held the Greyhound (0-3, 0-2 LSC) offense to its lowest scoring total of 2026 on their way to a dominant conference opening win.Â
An explosive first half powered the Javelinas through the Greyhounds on Saturday thanks in large part to an all-time performance from
Edward Chumley, who racked up a first-half hat trick and helped the Javelinas score 32 first-half points. Chumley would rip off a career-best 65-yard touchdown with 9:50 left in the second quarter to put the Javelinas up seven and they would not look back.
Quarterback
Mills Dawson was efficient in his outing, tossing 248 yards and a touchdown to go with 53 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. Dawson would open the game strong, leading the Javelinas to an opening drive score by way of a 32-yard screen pass to
Christian Kretz that led to the first points of the contest.
After surrendering an early 15 points, the Javelina defense began to suffocate the Greyhounds offense, with
Julian Payne notching two interceptions in the second half that blanked the Greyhounds.
Taiwo Atunrase also notched his first sack with the Javelinas in the second half, leading to a fumble recovery by
Rolland Trent.
Another big standout defensively for the Javelinas was defensive tackle
Jeremiah Robinson. The sophomore from Austin, Texas, racked up a team-high 10 tackles to go with a pair of TFL's and one blocked kick which came in the second-half to keep the Greyhounds off the board.
Jeremiah Conaway racked up a career-best 10 tackles as well.
