Kingsville - True Freshman Running back
Edward Chumley brings home his first Lone Star Conference award of his young Javelina career for Texas A&M-Kingsville.
He claims the Offensive Player of the Week award after an upset victory over the 12 ranked team in the nation Angelo State Rams, 24-19. It would be the first ranked win at home against a ranked opponent since 2023. Chumley steam rolled the Rams rushing for 150 yards on 28 carries and punching the ball in for two scores. He also capped off the night with a 27-yard rushing touchdown for the Hogs final touchdown of the night. The final stats would mark the third most rushing yards in a Lone Star Conference game this season.
The 150 rushing yards would be the most rushing yards by a Javelina since
Roger Hagan had 179 yards against Midwestern State on Oct. 5, of last year. It would also be the most rushing yards by a true freshman this decade. The victory would also end an over-decade long losing streak to the Rams as the last time the Javelinas beat the Rams was in 2012.
The Javelinas are on the road this week as they head to Ellensburg, WA, to take on the Central Washington Wildcats. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game on FloCollege or follow the game at JavelinaFB on X.
