Wichita Falls, TX - Texas A&M-Kingsville wraps up its two game road stint just south of the Red River as it takes on Midwestern State Saturday from Memorial Stadium.
The Javelinas (2-2, 1-1 LSC) got a great bounce back performance last week in a 52-3 win over Sul Ross State after dropping their previous two contests. Now Texas A&M-Kingsville can build some winning momentum as it travels to north Texas to take on the Mustangs (0-4, 0-2 LSC) of Midwestern State.
It has not been an ideal start for MSU through the first four weeks, as they are winless for the first time since 1996 through four games. The Mustangs however do feature one of the most dynamic passing attacks in the conference with Quarterback Jakolby Longino and reigning LSC Freshman of the Year Demonte Green.
Green has especially been great to start the season, currently sitting second in the conference in receptions (31) and receiving yards (483).
For the Javelinas, it was a historic performance from QB
Jack Turner last week against Sul Ross. The transfer from Louisiana Tech notched the fifth most passing yards in a single game with 393 in Javelina Football history, it was also the first 300-yard game for a Javelina QB since Koy Detmer Jr. did so during the 2019 season.
Turner and the Javelinas' offensive eruption totaled 632 yards against the Lobos, the third highest mark for a team's offensive production in the conference thus far. On a national scale, the Javelinas score the sixth most points (40.5) and produce the ninth most passing yards per game (311.8).
On the other side of the ball, it was a great bounce-back performance from the Javelinas. After surrendering 40-plus points in back-to-back weeks, the Hogs gave up a season-low three points to the Lobos. Sul Ross rushed for just 19 yards on Saturday, as the Javelinas scooped up seve TFL's.
Ashton Williams had his first impact play for the Javelina defense as well. The transfer from Houston Christian University logged his first career interception with the Javelinas in the first quarter that helped the Javelinas build a 14-3 lead.
Saturday's contest against the Mustangs kicks off at 6:00 pm from Memorial Stadium. Fans of the Javelinas can watch the game live from FloCollege or follow the game at JavelinaFB on X.
