RICHARDSON, Texas - The field is set for the 2024 Lone Star Conference Women's Tennis Championship, and the Javelinas have been drawn in the first round against the No. 2 seed and No. 18 ranked Angelo State Rambelles.

The Javelinas (10-9, 4-6 LSC) and the Rambelles (18-2, 9-1 LSC) have meet once already this season with the Rambelles narrowly taking the win in Kingsville, 4-3. The rematch is set for Thursday, April 25 at 12 p.m.

The Rambelles are led by national No. 8 Letizia Corsini and No. 53 Eva Schwartz. Corsini is undefeated in singles play in the spring including a win over Alessa Maier when the two teams previously met. Also for the Rambelles, Schwartz teams up with Avery Durham to come in at No. 16 in doubles play, just behind Maier and Milou ter Morsche at 15.

Maier, currently ranked No. 6 in singles play, will be looking to get one back against Corsini, being the senior's lone non-retirement loss on the season after going 17-2 in singles play over the spring. Last time out, Maier and Ter Morsche also narrowly downed the team of Schwartz and Durham in an exciting duel, 7-6. 

Other first round matchups will include No. 1 seed Midwestern State (18-3, 10-0 LSC) against No. 8 seed UT Permian Basin (8-14, 2-7 LSC), No. 3 seed Cameron (11-7, 8-2 LSC) against No. 6 seed LCU (14-6, 5-5 LSC) and No. 4 seed DBU (16-6, 6-4 LSC) against No. 5 seed St. Mary's (11-7, 6-4).
 
The tournament format is three, 6-game set doubles matches with a 7-point tiebreak at 6-all. Following doubles matches, teams will play six best-of-three set singles matches. Once one team reaches four points, remaining singles matches will be abandoned.
 
The winner of the conference tournament will be named the LSC Women's Tennis Tournament champion and earn the league's automatic qualification to the 2024 NCAA Division II Championship. The regional selection show is scheduled for May 6 at 7:30 p.m. CT on NCAA.com. The South Central Regional will be held May 10-11 at sites to be determined, while nationals are set for May 20-24 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, FL.
