MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia - In their first official match of the Spring 2024 seasons, the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team picked up a clean 6-1 victory over Emmanuel University in their first match of two in Milledgeville.

Getting started in doubles play, the Hogs grabbed the first point of the afternoon winning two of the three matches. The team of Alessa Maier and Milou ter Morsche as well as Annika Andersson Gomez and Ella Hester both cruised to 6-2 victories in their matches en route to picking up the doubles point.

The Javelinas were equally as dominant in singles play, only dropping a single match of the six played. Maier and Gomez both controlled their matches from start to finish, taking their matches to the tune of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-0 respectively. After a contested first set, 6-3, Ter Morsche dominated set two to take her match, 6-0. 

Manuela Turolo and Raina Zaffar both battled to earn victory in their matches. After winning the first set, 6-2, Turolo's second set went to a tiebreaker before she put it away to add another point for the Hogs. Zaffar went the distance in her match. After dropping the first set, 6-7, but taking the second, 6-4, Zaffar cleanly took the tiebreaker third set, 10-4.

Match two of opening weekend for the Hogs kicks off early tomorrow morning, Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. CT after being moved up due to weather.
