ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Coming into the afternoon on a three-game win streak, the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team kept things rolling with a 5-2 win over Arkansas Tech on Friday.
The Javelinas (4-0, LSC 0-0) remain perfect on the season and will look to make it five wins in a row tomorrow against Henderson State. The five-game win streak would be the team's best streak since the 2020-21 season.
Two dominating performances by the teams of
Alessa Maier and
Milou ter Morsche as well as
Ella Hester and
Annika Andersson Gomez saw the Javelinas take the doubles point to get out to an early 1-0 lead.
On the singles courts,
Raina Zaffar won the next point for the Hogs after her opponent retired while Zaffar was leading the first set, 4-1. Maier continued her singles dominance as well, with a commanding 6-0, 6-4 win on Court 1 to put the Javelinas only one point from victory.
Just three minutes later, Ter Morsche delivered the match-clinching win for the Javelinas with an equally impressive performance on Court 4, 6-3, 6-1. Gomez tacked on one more win for good measure in a three set battle on Court 5, 6-4, 5-7, 1-0.
The Javelinas are back in action tomorrow at noon as they take on the Henderson State Reddies.
