RICHARDSON, Texas – Senior Jackie Alanis of the Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week as announced in a press release put out by the league on Tuesday afternoon.
The outside hitter from McAllen earns the honor after helping the Javelinas to a perfect 4-0 start at the TAMUK Invitational this past weekend, leading the team in kills with 44 across the first four matches of the season.
While starting every match, Alanis posted a .412 attacking percentage with only two errors across 102 total attacks.
An LSC preseason player to watch, Alanis saved her best for last posting 13 kills, her highest mark on the weekend in TAMUK's final match of the invitational, a 3-2 come from behind win over #RV Qunicy.
Alanis becomes the first player to earn the weekly conference honor in 2023, and the first Javelina since Ayanna Jackson earned the honor last season back on Oct. 4.
The Javelinas are now preparing for the Yellow Jacket Classic, hosted by Black Hills State this weekend with their first match set for Friday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m.
