KINGSVILLE, Texas – Texas A&M-Kingsville's tennis team dropped its second to last regular season match at home on Thursday, to UT Tyler, 5-2.
The Patriots, took the doubles point despite the veteran Javelina pair of Alessa Maier and Milou Ter Morsche winning their match at the No. 2 spot 6-3.
Maier and Ter Morsche continued their strong play in the singles portions of the match for TAMUK.
Maier, the No. 62 ranked singles player in Division II, dominated her match against No. 74 Brooklyn Ross, winning 6-2, 6-1 controlling the pace of the match from start to finish to get the win.
Ter Morsche fought till the end for the Javelinas at the No. 4 spot, despite the team match already having been decided. The Netherlands native battled through three grueling sets to win the final match of the afternoon, 6-2, 2-6, 7-5.
Annika Andersson Gomez played hard and well at No. 5 fighting back after dropping the first set (6-4) to win the second 5-7, but eventually fell in the final super set 10-8.
The Javelinas will now prepare for their regular season finale set for Saturday against Dallas Baptist before Lone Star Conference Tournament play beginning on April 20.
