SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Javelina women's tennis team picked up their third win in a row, with a 7-0 win on Saturday over Ouachita Baptist.
"Today we went out there with a determined mindset as a whole," said head coach Autumn Wollemzein. "They are learning how to play together and play for each other."
The Javelinas started the day taking the doubles point, without dropping a single match, as the pairs of Raina Zaffar/Manuela Turolo, Alessa Maier/Milou Ter Morsche, and Annika Andersson Gomez/Sterre Fleur Moerdijk all picked up wins, 6-3, 6-2, and 6-4 respectively.
Alessa Maier got things going in the singles at No. 1 for TAMUK winning her match 6-2, 6-3, while at No. 2 Raina Zaffar won a tiebreaker in the first set before taking the match, 7-6, 6-3.
Manuela Turolo handled business at the No. 3 winning her match 6-2, 6-0. In the back half of the singles, Milou Ter Morsche took the win at No. 4, 6-0, 6-3 as Annika Andersson Gomez got the win at No. 5, 6-2, 6-2.
Arantza Armas Ugas got her first singles win of 2023 at No. 6 to finish the day taking her match, 6-2, 6-1.
The Javelinas wrap up their road trip tomorrow against Angelo State at 1 p.m.
