KINGSVILLE, Texas – Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team fell in its home Lone Star Conference opener on Friday afternoon against nationally ranked, No. 33 Midwestern State, 4-3.
The Mustangs (11-4, 2-0 LSC) started the day sweeping the doubles point taking a 1-0 advantage early in the match.
MSU took three of the first four matches in the singles at the No. 5, No. 6, and No. 2 to secure the match, deciding to retire from the No. 3 and No. 4 matches.
The Javelinas' (6-7, 2-3 LSC) Alessa Mair, took the No. 1 match in a thrilling three set match. Maier won the tiebreaker set 10-7 after opening strong with a 6-3 first set victory.
The Javs will now prepare for another LSC matchup tomorrow, taking on Lubbock Christian at home at noon.
