KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team opens its 2023 season on Monday afternoon, at home at 1 p.m. against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Javs enter the Spring season led head coach Autumn Wollenzein, and juniors Manuela Turolo and Alessa Maier, who were both named Lone Star Conference players to watch this season.
Maier, was a First-Team All-Lone Star Conference selection and earned a spot on the All-LSC tournament team a year ago going 16-5 on the season and 8-1 in conference play at the No. 1 and 2 spots.
The German also finished ranked No. 52 in the ITA single rankings for Division II.
Turolo, put together an impressive singles record in the Spring of 2022, going 13-8 out of the No. 5 and 6 position earning a 5-3 Lone Star Conference record. En route to doing so, she bested Kyndall Quiroz in the first round of the LSC Tournament at 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, went 11-9 in doubles play, partnering primarily with Maier, and toppled a Midwestern State duo 6-3 in the LSC Tournament.
The Islanders come to Kingsville sitting at 4-0 early in the season. The defending Southland Conference Champions, TAMU-CC returns three starters including 2022 SLC Player of the Year Emma Aucagne, senior Victoire Delattre, and junior Kateryna Rublevska.
All who have guided A&M-Corpus Christi to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances.
In last season's Spring meeting, the Islands won the match, 7-0.
