Allendale, Mich. — The Texas A&M-Kingsville track and field program wrapped up its final day of competition at the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships, with redshirt senior
D.J. Delancy logging a 13th-place finish in the shot put at the Grand Valley State Track and Field Stadium.
After entering as the 19th-seeded athlete, Delancy launched the implement 17.44m (57-2.75), allowing him to climb the leader board and narrowly edge out Cameron Belton of Southern Connecticut State for the 13th spot.
Also, in action on Friday, junior
Kimberly Ortolon (Edna, Texas) took on the pole vault, but did not record a mark.
On the team leader board, the Javelina men placed 29th with eight points, while the women snagged 49th, scoring two. The team champion on the men's side was Pittsburg State, who managed 70 points, while LSC-foe West Texas A&M scored 61 for second and Grand Valley State earned 56 in third.
The Lady Buffs scored 77 for the women's team title, while hosts Grand Valley State claimed second with 64. Rounding things out in third, Minnesota State earned 57 points.
