Ortolon claims LSC Field Athlete of the Week honors

This marks the sixth time in as many weeks that a Javelina has claimed a weekly award

RICHARDSON, Texas. — In a release Wednesday, the Lone Star Conference announced their outdoor track and field athletes of the week, with senior Kimberly Ortolon (Edna, Texas) claiming Field Athlete of the Week honors after snapping the Texas A&M-Kingsville school record in the pole vault.

Just a week after tying the record, Ortolon made the school record her own after clearing a bar of 3.77m (12-4.5) at the J. Fredd Duckett Twilight Invitational hosted on the campus of Rice. She made the clearance on her first attempt at the height and placed second behind a student-athlete from Houston.

This marks the fourth time in six weeks that a Javelina has claimed the female field honor, and the seventh weekly honor won by the TAMUK track and field program thus far.

Oroton and the Javelinas now head into College Station for the Texas A&M Alumni Muster on Saturday in what represents the squad's final tune-up before hosting the 2022 Lone Star Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Pepsi Field at Javelina Stadium on Thursday, May 5.
