IRVINE, Calif. – By capturing five of six singles matches, four of them in straight sets, the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team notched its third straight victory, disposing of the Concordia University Eagles by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday evening at the CUI Tennis Courts in Irvine, Calif.

This is TAMUK's second three-match win streak of the season and ups the team's record to 6-4. The Eagles are 6-6.

Sophomore Alessa Maier (Hechingen, Germany) and freshman Manuela Turolo (Cividale del Friuli, Italy) teamed up to take the third flight in doubles, but the Eagles were able to win the No. 1 match, 6-3 and the No. 2 match, 7-6, to take the contest's first point.

Despite this and a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 final in the top flight in singles that went to CUI, the Javs battled back to collect the win.

Turolo and sophomore Raina Zaffar (Guwahati, India) cruised past their opponents, Turolo snagging the sixth flight, 6-2, 6-0, and Zaffar dominating at No. 4, 6-1, 6-1. Maier asserted her will in the No. 2 contest by a score of 6-3, 6-0 and sophomore Milou ter Morsche (Goor, Netherlands) clinched a Blue and Gold victory when she locked up the fifth flight 6-3, 6-3.

The final Javelina point came from sophomore Noemi Sante (Dusseldorf, Germany), who dropped the first set, 6-1, but then rebounded to win the match, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5. Turolo, Zaffar, Maier, ter Morsch and Sante have now each won three straight singles matches.
