LAREDO, Texas-The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's golf program finished eighth at the 2022 Jack Brown Memorial, an event hosted by Lone Star Conference foe Texas A&M International in Laredo, Texas, on Tuesday as they wrapped up their second day of competition at the Laredo Country Club. Â
"I'm proud of Roxane for her performance this week," said coach Stefanie Maynard. "She pushed through a lot of adversity to shoot some good scores. Alessia really showed how much talent she has by bouncing back after the afternoon round yesterday. As a group, we have a lot of work to do before the next event in San Antonio."
The team finished 114-over par with graduate student Roxane Nataf (Paris, France), picking up right where she left off in the fall, shooting five-over 72 in her third trip around the course, allowing her to finish +20 overall, earning a share for 31st with Kristine Torrealba of TAMIU.Â
The rest of the Blue and Gold squad finished in a cluster with everyone in the top-50 as the freshman duo of Kristin Grabow (San Antonio, Texas) and Alessia Rojas (Seabrook, Texas) finished back-to-back in 44th and 45th, with the latter improving 20 strokes between the second and third round, scoring 261. Grabow, meanwhile, shot 42-over in Laredo, spending five holes even with par on day two.Â
Also, placing in order, juniors Briana Silerio (McAllen, Texas) and Katelyn Habib (Corpus Christi, Texas) claimed 47th and 48th, as Slierio shot 14-over on the day logging two birdies, while Habib was +16 for an overall score of 270.
Rounding out the group and competing individually, sophomore Olivia Vargas (Lake Travis, Texas) placed 49th at 277, finishing 61-over par.Â
Maynard's team returns to the course on Feb. 28, in San Antonio as they compete in the 2022 Rattler Invitational hosted by St. Mary's at the Dominion Country Club.Â
