Box Score CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Taking the court for the first time in the spring of 2022, the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team took on the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Tuesday afternoon in Corpus Christi, Texas, but ended up suffering a 7-0 defeat.
The Islanders secured the doubles portion of the match by winning the first flight, 6-0, and the taking the third 6-2. Junior Maya Donkor (McLean, Va.) and freshman Manuela Turolo (Cividale Del Friuli, Italy) put up a fight in the second flight, but eventually fell, 6-3.
Once the match shifted to singles play, A&M-CC captured the fourth, fifth and sixth matches to lock up a victory. Donkor managed to take a handful of games from Emma Aucagne in the first flight, but ultimately suffered a 6-2, 6-3 defeat.
Sophomore Noemi Sante (Dusseldorf, Germany) went up against Camille Townsend in the No. 3 match, but she ended up on the short end of a 6-3, 6-2 final.
The closest Javelina to taking a set on Tuesday was sophomore Alessa Maier (Hechingen, Germany) in the fourth spot, but she fell just short in a 6-4, 6-2 defeat.
