ATLANTA – The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team had their three-match win streak snapped by a 6-1 loss to the Auburn Montgomery Warhawks on Thursday afternoon in Atlanta.

This is TAMUK's second loss of the spring and puts their record at 3-2 while AUM improves to 4-1.

The Warhawks bested the Javs in doubles play by winning the second and third flight by identical 6-1 scores. Junior Maya Donkor (McLean, Va.) and freshman Raina Zaffar (Guwahati, India) made life difficult for AUM in the No. 1 doubles match, but fell 6-3.

In the singles portion of the contest, sophomore Milou ter Morsche (Goor, Netherlands) battled her way to a straight sets triumph in the fifth flight. In a tightly contested first set, she outlasted junior Ane Ibarra, then controlled the second frame to snatch a 6-4, 6-2 win.

TAMUK and AUM had multiple other singles matches that could've gone to either side, but the Warhawks narrowly pulled out each one. In the No. 2 match, sophomore Alessa Maier (Hechingen, Germany) and her opponent fought to a first-set tiebreaker, but the final went to AUM, 7-6, 6-2. Zaffar also nearly captured the first set, only to suffer a 7-5, 6-1 defeat.
