Box Score ATLANTA – The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team got a three-day stay in Atlanta started with a 7-0 sweep of the Clark University Atlanta Panthers on Wednesday at the CAU Tennis Courts.
The Javelinas are now officially on a win streak, having on won three-in-a-row to put their record at 3-1.
"The focus was to start well in doubles," said coach Autumn Wollenzien. "We did just that and kept the momentum going into singles."
The day's doubles matches were completely dominated by the Blue and Gold, with CAU only managing to take a single game between the two matches. Sophomores Noemi Sante (Dusseldorf, Germany) and Milou ter Morsche (Goor, Netherlands) were in complete control in the No. 2 flight, to the tune of a 6-0 final. Not far behind were junior Maya Donkor (McLean, Va.) and sophomore Raina Zaffar (Guwahati, India), who pocketed a win in the top doubles match by a score of 6-1.
In singles play, the Javs were equally strong, dropping only five games across four matches. At No. 1, Donkor collected the first set, 6-1, and had a 2-0 edge in the second before her opponent retired. The second flight belonged to sophomore Alessa Maier (Hechingen, Germany) and she breezed her way to a 6-0, 6-1 triumph. Sante posted a nearly identical 6-1, 6-0 victory in the three spot and freshman Manuela Turolo (Cividale Del Friuli, Italy) won the fourth flight for TAMUK by a 6-2, 6-0 margin.
