RICHARDSON, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville football program had a pair of student-athletes named to the All-Lone Star Conference second-team on Friday in a release from the league office, as redshirt junior
Darrian Hambrick (Nashville, Tenn.) and senior
Kyle Williams (Katy, Texas) both landed on the squad.
Hambrick finished his season for the Javelinas as the leading receiver with 682 yards on 50 catches alongside a pair of touchdowns. He was part of a record-breaking performance in the loss to Tarleton as he caught 12 passes for 151 yards and one touchdown as senior
Koy Detmer Jr. (Somerset, Texas) broke the single-game program record for completions.
Williams, meanwhile, split duties between tight end and fullback, gathering the second-team honor as the latter, as he finished with seven catches for 59 yards through the air. His efforts in the backfield led to 1168 team rushing yards along with 20 touchdowns.
In addition to Hambrick and Williams, a total of 10 Hogs were named All-LSC honorable mention, with two from the offensive side of the ball, five on the defensive half and the other three as specialists.
Seniors
Devin Milburn (Galveston, Texas) and
Luis Lopez (San Diego, Texas) landed on the honorable mention squad for the Javelina offense. Milbun was second on the team with 545 yards on 54 catches and three scores as he turned in a season-best performance against Saginaw Valley State at the start of the year with nine catches for 120 yards and one touchdown.
Lopez led the ground effort with 593 yards on 106 carries and a team-high 11 touchdowns, tied for third-most scores in the LSC. His best performance went for 132 yards on 12 carries and three scores in a 72-0 shutout of Sul Ross State and he matched the feat with three touchdowns and 122 yards on 17 attempts in the win over Western New Mexico.
The defensive lineman trio of sophomore
Sesi Salt (Salt Lake City, Utah), classmate
Cody Gardner (Spring, Texas) and junior
Jacob Clarkson (Houston, Texas) all earned a spot on the honorable mention squad. Salt finished the year with 28 tackles, 12 solo and 2.5 for loss, while Gardner added 35 tackles, 15 solo and seven for loss, along with three sacks.
Clarkson, meanwhile, led the team with 16 tackles for loss, 58 total, to go with four sacks, and added a 25-yard interception return against Angelo State.
Redshirt junior
Tre'Michael Tutt (Channel View, Texas) was the lone linebacker representing the Blue and Gold to be named honorable mention as he led the team with 120 tackles on the year, 60 solo and 9.5 for loss. He broke the program record for single-game tackles with 22 coming against Eastern New Mexico and was second in the conference in total tackles and tackles per game behind only Chris Hoad from UT Permian Basin.
Senior
Josh Wilson (Corpus Christi, Texas) brought home the honorable mention award for the secondary as he ended the year with 55 tackles, 36 solo and three for loss, and added two pass breakups along with two forced fumbles on the year.
The three specialists named to the team were junior
Donte Ross (Palmdale, Calif.), redshirt freshman
Karch Kaspar (Brazoria, Texas) and true freshman
Clay Engelhardt (San Antonio, Texas). Ross turned in several electric performances on the year as he ran the first punt back for a touchdown in nearly a decade with his 48-yard burst in the second half against ENMU. He was one of three student-athletes in the league to return a punt for a touchdown on the year.
Kaspar took over punting duties for TAMUK as he was second in the league in punting average at 41.4 yards per punt. He had 12 punts over 50 yards, pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line on 15 occasions and had a long punt of 68 yards against Western Oregon.
Engelhardt, rounding out the representatives for the Javelinas, earned his honorable mention as a long snapper with the special teams continually executing clean snaps between the punting and field goal units without allowing a fumble.
