ARLINGTON, Texas – The Texas A&M University-Kingsville women's tennis program turned in a pair of wins on Sunday at the Arlington Tennis Complex against non-conference foes Newman University and North Central Texas College.

The Javelinas (8-9) secured a quick win against the Jets (13-5) at 6-1 before posting a perfect 9-0 sweep over the Lions (4-4) to wrap the weekend matches.

MATCH ONE vs NEWMAN

TAMUK's Nos. 1 and 3 doubles teams tallied the first points of the match against Newman as Stephanie Baerman and Laura Montalvo cruised to an 8-1 win over Liza Gerasimova and Emily Young at the top spot, while Victoria Romanovskaia and Viviana Ortiz tallied an 8-5 decision at the third spot over Emily Wise and Mariana Gaviria.

Phonephathep Philavong and Valerie Ruiz found themselves locked in a close affair against Kateryna Stoianova and Vlada Litvinova at the No. 2 doubles matchup, but the Jet duo ended on top with the 9-7 final.

Philavong took the win at No. 2 singles as Litvinova retired in the match, while Ortiz, Montalvo and Julia Rauer secured the team win for the Javelinas.

Rauer downed Stoianova in the No. 4 matchup, 6-1 and 6-0 before Baerman secured the team win at 6-1, 6-0 over Gaviria at No. 6, while Montalvo added the cherry on top with a 6-0, 7-5 win over Wise at No. 3.
