PUEBLO, Colo. – The Texas A&M University-Kingsville women's tennis program closed its Colorado road trip with a perfect performance at Pueblo City Park on Wednesday with a 9-0 sweep over Colorado State University-Pueblo.

The Javelinas (6-7) got straight-set wins in all six singles matchups en route to the decision over the Thunderwolves (3-13).

The first two doubles matchups set the tone for the remainder of the match as Valerie Ruiz and Phonephathep Philavong bested Acacia Dettman and Samantha Cachutt at No. 1 doubles behind an 8-3 win, while Victoria Romanovskaia and Viviana Ortiz dominated Kali Hamilton and Nia Matthews at No. 2 doubles with an 8-1 final.

Laura Montalvo and Martina Urrutia put in extra work to take the win at the No. 3 doubles matchup against Sarah Megilligan and Kristin Jensen as the Javelina pair used a 10-5 tiebreaker to best the Thunderwolf duo at 9-8.

Ruiz carried her momentum from the doubles matchup into singles play as she turned in a 6-1, 6-0 win over Megilligan at the No. 4 singles matchup.

Julia Rauer and Mariana Correa weren't far behind in efficiently dispatching their foes as Rauer defeated Dettman at No. 3 singles, 6-2 and 6-1, before Correa posted a 6-1, 6-2 final over Jensen at the No. 6 singles matchup.

Philavong took a 6-3 first set win over Matthews at the No. 2 singles matchup before cruising to a 6-0 win in the second set for the decision.

Stephanie Baerman took a 6-2 win in the first set over Cachutt before securing the decision at No. 5 singles with a 6-4 win in the second set.

Romanovskaia provided the exclamation point at No. 1 singles over Hamilton with a 6-1 win in the first set and outlasted the Thunderwolf in the second set at 7-5 to cap the 9-0 team final.

The Javelinas will have a week off before returning to the Javelina Tennis Courts on Wednesday, March 21, to host New Mexico State at 2 p.m. CT.
