KINGSVILLE, Texas (Track and Field) – Three of Texas A&M University-Kingsville's All-Lone Star Conference First Team selections have been tabbed to the College of Sports Information Directors of America All-District Team announced on Thursday morning. The honorees are Bryce Martin, James Passley and Kaina Martinez.

Bryce Martin caps off an incredible career at Texas A&M-Kingsville as a civil engineering major with an outstanding 3.99 GPA. Not only was he named the 2016 Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year, Martin was selected as the 2017 Nueces Chapter Engineering Student of the Year and is a three-time LSC All-Academic Team selection. On the playing field, Martin claimed the 2017 LSC Championship in the men's pole vault by vaulting 15' 7.25" (4.76m) and the next weekend, Martin cleared a career-best 16' 1.75" (4.92m) at the West Texas A&M Last Chance Meet to conclude his career. Bryce will now take on the next chapter of his life as he has been accepted to Stanford University's engineering graduate program.  

James Passley is a civil engineering major as well and has a 3.89 GPA. Passley is the LSC Long Jump Champion after leaping a provisional 24' 2.5" (7.38m) at the conference championships in Commerce, Texas and will be competing in the long jump and triple jump at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 25-27.

Kaina Martinez is a communications major with a 3.80 GPA. Martinez ran the fastest time in all of Division II in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 23.43 seconds and the second fastest time in the 100-meter dash after clocking out at 11.52 seconds. Martinez is also a member of a stout 4x100-meter relay team that ran a time of 45.32 seconds, which ranks second in the nation. The senior will be competing in each of these events at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
