Track and field heading back Houston for FasTrak Collegiate Classic

Kingsville - After shaking off nearly three weeks of rust with a record-setting performance last weekend, the Texas A&M-Kinsville women's and men's track and field teams are headed back to Houston for the FasTrak Athletix Collegiate Classic on Saturday.

The Javelinas are fresh off of a weekend where they competed in three different meets around the country (Houston, Boston, Cambridge), broke two school records, and set 22 new top-10 times/scores in program history. Now, they will be headed back north to the Yeoman Fieldhouse for the second FasTrak-run event of their season. It will be the first of just two meets that remain between TAMUK and the Lone Star Conference Indoor Championships.

Kingsville's full crews will be travelling to the meet, with 59 total athletes set to complete, 33 men and 26 women. After the first FasTrak event of the year (FasTrak Collegiate Challenge) was cancelled due to weather concerns back in January, Kingsville will look to battle top-tier competition at a meet they dominated last year. At this same Invitational one year ago, the Javelinas won seven events, placed top five in 20 more, and posted four new top-15 scores in the nation in D2.

This year, with a re-loaded roster full of young talent, the teams will make the trip back to the Yeoman Fieldhouse, which has been a familiar landing spot for the Javelinas, who will be competing there for the second of three straight weeks to close out their Indoor regular season.
