KINGSVILLE, Texas (Football) – For the first time ever, Texas A&M University-Kingsville (0-1) will take on Missouri University of Science and Technology (0-1) when the Miners enter Javelina Stadium for the Mike Shaw Automotive Hall of Fame Game, Saturday, Sept. 12 at 7 p.m.

Despite never facing off, the Javelinas do have familiarity with the Miners as defensive coordinator
David Brown II, whose defense forced four turnovers in the season opener, was the head coach at Missouri S&T for three seasons. Brown went 19-14 as the Miner leader, including a 10-1 mark in 2012, giving Missouri S&T a No. 24 national ranking. The 2012 team led the nation in turnover margin and recorded a school record 45 sacks.

LOOK UP, THE JAVELINAS ARE RISINGDespite the heartbreaking loss on Saturday, the Javelinas rank fourth in NCAA Division II in turnover margin after forcing four turnovers (three fumbles) against the University of the Incarnate Word.

Excluding wins between the 1996-99 seasons, the Javelinas are 313-107-8 all-time at Javelina Stadium. In home openers, they are 67-18-1 all-time, giving the Javelinas the edge heading into Saturday's tilt.

PERFECTION RETURNSThe 1974 and 1975 NAIA Championship teams will be formally enshrined into the Javelina Hall of Fame on Sept. 11. The teams combined to go 25-0 en route to back-to-back NAIA titles and in the decade, the Javelinas won four championships (1970, 74-76 and 1979). Under
Gil Steinke, the Hogs were as dominant a team as any, highlighted by a win over Division I's Hawaii in the first-ever game at Aloha Stadium.

SCOUTING THE JAVELINASIn his first game under center,
Myles Carr went 16-of-27 and threw for a touchdown pass.
Jordan Thomas and
Anthony Autry combined for nearly 100 receiving yards and tight ends
Roe Posada,
Torrey Thomas,
Chris Cooper and
Daniel Ramirez all saw action in the season opener.

Defensively, the Javelinas were led by
ZeMarcus Green's nine tackles and the team tallied two sacks and four tackles for a loss.
Devonte Williams finished with a fumble recovery and an interception.

SCOUTING THE MINERSMissouri S&T also fell in its season opener, 40-27, to Chadron State. The 2014 team collected 47 team sacks, setting a school record and finishing second behind the Javelinas' home opening opponent last season, Humboldt State University.

S&T got off to a slow start but picked it up in the second half, scoring all 27 points in the final two quarters, including 20 in the fourth. Lamar Wilkes finished with 186 passing yards but did not throw for a touchdown. Three of their four touchdowns came on the ground.
