Â
When They Last MetThe Javelinas took two out of three in Lawton earlier this season behind strong pitching. In game one,
Ryan Benitez struck out nine in 7.0 innings but wounded up with a no-decision.
Cline Andrews went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. The following day, it was all about putting up zeros as
Matt Terrones and
Hayden James threw back-to-back shutouts. For his efforts, James earned Lone Star Conference and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South Central Region Pitcher of the Week honors.
Â
In the PollsThe Javelinas are receiving votes in the NCBWA and Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Polls and sit at No. 8 in the NCBWA South Central Region rankings.
Â
HeartbreakThe Hogs suffered a 13-inning heartbreak on Tuesday versus No. 20/27 St. Mary's. The regional tilt featured four ties and seven Javelinas saw action on the mound.
Ryan Scott entered the game in the eighth and settled down to strand the go-ahead run at third base on a strikeout and ground out. He stayed in the game and threw 4.0 scoreless innings, punching out six to extend his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 16.0.
Â
