KINGSVILLE, Texas (Baseball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (26-21, 20-12 LSC) currently sits atop the Lone Star Conference standings, holding the tiebreaker over West Texas A&M University. The Javelinas look to earn back-to-back conference titles as the 2015 regular season comes to a close this weekend when Tarleton State University (20-20, 13-16 LSC) rolls into Nolan Ryan Field for a three-game series.

First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. Friday with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Prior to the twin bill on May 2, 11 seniors will be honored for their contributions to the Javelina baseball program. This series could be a preview for the opening round matchup of the LSC tournament as the top seeded Hogs could play host to the No. 4 Texans on May 7. Currently, TSU is the last team in according to the NCAA South Central Region rankings at No. 6.

Advantage – TAMUKDespite heading into the weekend on a five-game losing skid, Texas A&M-Kingsville is 19-5 at Nolan Ryan Field. TAMUK is second in the LSC in batting average, hitting at a .283 clip and the small-ball Hogs are showcasing their speed on the basepaths, leading the league with 61 stolen bases. In LSC games, TAMUK and Angelo State University are tied for the conference lead with a .276 batting average.

Brayton Carlson ranks second in the LSC with 10 stolen bases and
Ryan Fickel follows with nine.
Cline Andrews is fourth in the conference and leads the team with a .359 batting average and his five triples, 17 extra-base hits, 33 RBI and .430 on-base percentage are also team-highs.

Inside the SeriesTarleton State took three out of four games in the first matchup this season and the all-time series is tied with each win winning 53 games.

Following the series, the top team in the LSC will be crowned the LSC champion and will host the conference tournament, scheduled for May 7-9.
