SAN ANGELO, Texas (Baseball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville threatened in the second game but could not overcome the Angelo State University offense as the Rams took both games on Saturday, 4-1, and 9-8, respectively, at Foster Field.

The Javelinas fell to 26-20 overall and 20-12 in Lone Star Conference play, while the Rams improved to 32-14 and 19-13 in conference play.

Game OneRyan Scott and LSC Preseason Pitcher of the Year Blake Bass went 4.0 scoreless innings to begin game one before the Javelinas scored the game's first run in the fifth.
Larren Artis singled to lead off the inning and after advancing on a sacrifice by
Brayton Carlson, the first baseman came around to score on
Wesley Aguilar's RBI single.

Angelo State tacked on three runs in the bottom frame to overtake the lead, 3-1, and scored a huge insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to take game one, 4-1. Bass improved to 8-2 on the year after tossing the complete game and Scott fell to 3-3 after going 5.2 innings.
Zach Smith and
Cline Andrews registered two hits apiece in the second game of the series.

Game TwoThe Rams scored two runs in the third and two in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead but the Javelinas stormed back with a five-run sixth inning on three hits to take a 5-4 lead. ASU rallied back with two in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6-5 lead but
Jimmy Roche blasted his first home run of the season in the seventh to knot it up at 6-6.

The potent Rams offense tacked off three runs in the seventh and the Hogs scored two in the eighth after a double by Andrews, RBI single by
Hayden Vesely and ground rule RBI double by Roche.

However, Angelo State escaped with the victory and swept the three-game season to take the season series, 4-3.

Roche went 2-for-5 with three RBI and two runs scored and
Clint Wallace and Andrews added two hits apiece in the game two setback.

Dustin Luna (1-2) suffered the loss after allowing three runs in 1.0 inning, while
Graylon Brown (3-2) improved to 3-2 despite giving up three runs in 1.2 innings.

The Javelinas return to Nolan Ryan Field for the final four home games of the regular season, beginning with nationally-ranked St. Mary's University on April 28 at 6 p.m.
