Tennis Downed by Mustangs in LSC Opener

Javelinas host No. 13 St. Mary’s on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.



KINGSVILLE, Texas (Tennis) – No. 14 Midwestern State University (8-5, 1-0 LSC) defeated Texas A&M University-Kingsville (10-9, 0-1 LSC), 9-0, on Saturday at the H.M. King High School Tennis Courts. The game was the Lone Star Conference opener for both programs.
 
MSU was the No. 2 team in the South Central Region in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings. No. 34 Kayla Casey defeated Mariaxi Herrera, 6-1, 6-3 in No. 1. Reigning LSC Player of the Week Marija Dimitrovska nearly defeated No. 10 in region Madeline Schorlemmer in singles No. 3.
 
The home stand concludes tomorrow when the Hogs host No. 13 St. Mary's University (13-1) at 1:30 p.m. at the Bishop High School Tennis Courts.
