KINGSVILLE, Texas (Tennis) – The home opener is upon us as Texas A&M University-Kingsville (10-8) hosts No. 14 Midwestern State University (7-5) on March 28 at 1 p.m. and No. 13 St. Mary's University (12-1) on March 29 at 1:30 p.m.

Saturday's match versus the Mustangs will be the Lone Star Conference opener for the Javelinas and will take place on the H.M. King High School Tennis Courts in Kingsville.

National RankingsIn the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national and South Central Region rankings, St. Mary's is No. 1 in the region and Midwestern State follows at No. 2. Texas A&M-Kingsville ranks No. 8.

Scouting the MustangsMidwestern State is heading to Trinity for a Friday battle. No. 34 Kayla Casey is 3-5 in singles No. 1 and the Mustangs are 2-4 versus nationally-ranked opponents. Saturday will be their first LSC match of the season.

Scouting the RattlersStMU singles No. 1 student-athlete Mariana Rong is ranked No. 1 in the region and No. 33 nationally in singles with a 12-1 record and Cristina Lopez (No. 2) follows at No. 3 in region and No. 39 nationally. The duo is No. 7 in the nation, boasting a 11-1 mark in the spring and 19-1 mark overall and doubles No. 2 tandem Jamie Lee Denton and Kaylin Kruseman are 12-1 in 2015.
