KINGSVILLE, Texas (Baseball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville Hall of Famer
Mike Adams has signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday. News was first reported by Kiii Sports.
Adams was the first Javelina baseball player to appear in a Major League Baseball game after breaking in with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2004. His No. 31 jersey was retired on an on-campus ceremony on Jan. 20, 2011 and he was inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame in 2012.
Adams has a 2.41 career ERA in 10 seasons with the Brewers, San Diego Padres, Texas Rangers and Philadelphia Phillies. He is coming off a rotator cuff injury.
Per ESPN.com: "You know if he's healthy, he's good," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "It's just a matter of being able to watch his bullpens, see how the ball's coming out. It's not like, 'Can he pitch or not?' It's just a matter of, 'Is he healthy?'"
A three-year letterwinner for the Hogs, he tallied 13 wins, 16 complete games and 240 strikeouts. Adams earned Lone Star Conference South Division Pitcher of the Year, LSC First Team and South Central Region Second Team honors in 2000 and a LSC South Division First Team nod in 2001.
