Ulises Quiroga was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All South-Central Region Second-Team the association announced.
Quiroga is the first Javelina to be named to an All-Region team by the D2CCA since the 2023 season and the first pitcher to be named to an All-Region team since Brandon Symmank was named to the South-Central Region Second-Team in the 2022 season.
The transfer from UTSA was remarkable in his first season with the Javelinas, finishing the season fourth in the conference with 75 K's and fifth in the conference with seven wins while adding four saves as well. Quiroga's 75 strikeouts are the most by a Javelina since the 2023 season, where two pitchers would go over that mark.
His best performance came in game two of the series against Sul Ross State, where Quiroga would throw a complete game shutout over the Lobos with an LSC high 13 strikeouts. That mark was the first 10-plus strikeout game by a Javelina since
Colton Taylor struck out 10 against St. Mary's in the 2023 season (Apr. 1) and earned him Lone Star Conference and the NCBWA South-Central Region Pitcher of the Week awards.
