Marija Dimitrovska added a three-set thriller in No. 3 but Prairie View A&M University (2-4) defeated Texas A&M University-Kingsville (0-2), 5-2, on Friday afternoon on the Prairie View A&M Tennis Courts.
Larrea's 6-7, 6-1, 10-4 gave the Javelinas a win in singles No. 6 and Dimitrovska earned a tiebreaker, 6-4, in flight No. 3 for Kingsville's two points. In doubles No. 1,
Mariaxi Herrera and Dimitrovska defeated the Panthers' top duo of Taylor LeFridge and Stacy Lackey, 6-4.
Tabata Lua nearly upset Sydney Thomas in singles No. 2.
The Panthers improved to 2-0 against Kingsville.
Texas A&M-Kingsville takes a week off before returning to the courts to take on Howard Payne University on Valentine's Day and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin on Feb. 16.
