KINGSVILLE, Texas -- The Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team will face top-ranked West Texas A&M at Hubert Field for a 3-game series starting with a doubleheader set for 5 p.m. on Friday. Kingsville will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday before the game starts at 1 p.m.
There are six seniors on the team that will be honored. The seniors are:
Carynn Gonzales,
Taylor McGill,
Bailey Offill,
Cortnee White,
Adela Gomez and
Lauren Denney.
The Javelinas (9-30, 2-14 in conference) will be looking to bounce back from a tough split on the road to No. 5 St. Mary's on Tuesday. In the doubleheader with the Lady Rattlers, Kingsville won game one, 9-4, and loss the second game in the seventh inning, 1-0.
The Lady Buffs (33-4, 12-4 in conference) come into this weekend's contest on a six game winning streak after dispatching Lubbock Christian last week. The two teams met during the Lone Star Conference Showcase and West Texas A&M came out the victor, 12-4.
On the season,
Valerie Ramirez leads the Javelinas with a .302 batting average while
Bailey Offill is second at .289. Offill leads the team with 23 runs scored. Ramirez also leads the Javelinas with 21 RBI and
Adela Gomez is second for Kingsville with 17 runs knocked in.
Callie Gerdes leads the Lady Buffs with a .387 average. Renee Erwin is second with a .455 average, 42 run and 11 home runs. West Texas A&M also has three players with over 40 RBI for the season.
