STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team fell to Tarleton State on Saturday with a score of 8-1.
 
The sole point for the Javelinas was scored in doubles competition when Mariaxi Herrera and Marija Dimitrovska defeated Ivana Zecevic and Luiza Adas by a score of 9-7 at No. 1.
 
At No. 2, Tarleton's Alicia Perez and her partner, Silvia Nieva defeated Tabata Lua Cervantes and Eleni Anastasova with a score of  8-0. April Downing and Melanie Barnes of Tarleton defeated Alex Carrillo and, her partner, Alex Olguin at No. 3, 8-1.
 
In singles competition, Kingsville lost a couple of tough 3-set matches at No.1 and No. 2. Tarleton's Alicia Perez bested Mariaxi Herrera at No. 1 with scores of 1-6, 7-6 (6), 10-8 at No. 1. At No. 2, Ivana Zecevic defeated Marjia Dimitrovska, 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.
 
Kingsville's next competition will be at the Lone Star Conference Tennis Championship on May 25th and 26th.
