Javelina Baseball Heads To International For Non-LSC Tilt

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Fresh off a 3-1 series win over Angelo State that helped vault the Javelinas into sixth in this week's NCAA South Central Region poll, the Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team heads to Laredo for a single game at 6 p.m.

The Javelinas enter the mid-week clash with a 16-11 record, meanwhile International is 12-17 on the season including 10-11 at home. Kingsville leads the all-time series 8-6.

In five games last week, the Hoggies hit just .213 as a team however several players had solid weeks and had run production up and down the lineup. Eight players had at least one RBI, while nine different players scored at least one run.

In four games, Ryan Guedry hit .467 going 7-of-15 with a double. Brian Frazier started all five games and hit .333 belting his first home run of the season. He also led the team with three RBI. Miles Holcomb was 3-of-10 with two RBI and two runs scored in.

On the mound, the Kingsville pitching staff was stellar. In five games, they combined for a 2.63 ERA and lowered that to 1.97 in the four games against Angelo State. The Hoggies limited ASU to a .209 batting average. Denver Diefenbach picked up his fifth win of the season allowing one earned run in six innings of work. Out of the bullpen, Ryan Scott earned saves in all three victories as he allowed no runs on two hits in three innings of work. They were the first saves of the season for Kingsville.

The Dustdevils are led in hitting by Alex McKeon with a .378 average, while Andrew Arteaga is second with a .354 mark. Jake Cardoza leads the team with 19 runs scored and six stolen bases. Connor Belvin leads the team with 19 RBI and shares the lead with two home runs with Gordie Taggart.
International has a 4.69 staff earned-run average. They are led in victories by Baylr Bickerton with three wins. Starters Abdel Rivera and Jeremy Gonzalez are second with two wins apiece.
