EDINBURG, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team travelled to the Valley on Friday evening to take on UTPA on the hardcourts falling 8-1.
The Javelinas (1-5) picked up their one point at No. 1 singles.
Mariaxi Herrera rallied from a set down to with the match. After falling 6-1 in the first set, Herrera won the final two sets 7-6 and 10-6.
Kingsville lost the other five singles matches in straight sets.
Marija Dimitrovska at No. 2 singles was the only Javelina other than Herrera to win more than one game in a set. She fell 6-3, 6-3 to Mariana Ranzahuer.
In doubles, Herrera and Dimitrovska dropped an 8-4 decision to Wanda Beguelin and Christel Amsallem.
The Javelinas next play on Wednesday at Austin College in Sherman, Texas.
