SAN ANTONIO, Texas – After having to reschedule one match and cancel another due to snow, the Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis opened the spring portion schedule on Saturday falling to No.-23 St. Mary's 9-0.
In doubles' play, the Javelinas nearly earned a point at No.-1 doubles. The Kingsville duo of
Mariaxi Herrera and
Tabata Lua Cervantes fell 9-8 to the tandem of Cristina Lopez and Felicity Delgado. They lost 7-3 in the tiebreaker. The Javelinas won one game in the other two doubles matches.
The Rattlers won the six singles' matches in straight sets. At No. 2,
Marija Dimitrovska took three games off Lopez in the first set before falling 6-3, 6-1. The Javelinas would manage to win four games in the five other singles' matches.
Kingsville is in action in next Friday and Saturday as the team travels to Oklahoma. They will face Central Oklahoma on Friday and Southern Nazarene on Saturday.
