SEGUIN, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's tennis team took a bite out of Texas Lutheran Saturday afternoon for a 7-2 victory for its first dual-meet win of the season before falling to Dallas Baptist in match two.

Against TLU, Kingsville (1-4) won four of six singles matches. Marija Dimitrovska dropped one game in winning at No. 2 singles, while Tabata Lua defeated the Bulldogs' Brooke Taylor 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3. Alexandra Olguin outlasted Courtney Dees at No. 5 in a 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 13-11 win, while Ashlea Rosenbaum didn't drop a game at No. 6 singles.
At No. 1 singles, Mariaxi Herrera faced the top rated NCAA D3 player in the West Region in Sofia Vega. She fell 7-6 (7-5) and 6-3. Eleni Anastasova lost a hard-fought 7-5, 7-5 battle to Leah Howell at No. 4 singles.

In doubles, all three Javelina pairs won by identical 8-3 scores. Herrera and Dimitrovska downed Vega and Zarr, while Lua and Rosenbaum knocked off Taylor and Howell. Anastasova and Olguin defeated the Dees sisters.
In their second match of the day, the Javelinas fell 7-2 to Dallas Baptist which is ranked seventh in the South Central Region.

Dimitrovska defeated Amanda Richter in a see-saw battle at No. 2. The match ended in favor of Kingsville 6-3, 3-6, 11-9. Rosenbaum won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6.

In doubles, Kingsville was swept 3-0. The top tandem of Herrera and Dimitrovska lost 9-7 Richter and Wennerstrom. Lua and Rosenbaum fell 8-5.

Kingsville next plays on Friday when it travels to UTPA for a 4:30 match.
