ABILENE, TEXAS – The Texas A&M-Kingsville women’s tennis program kicked off their inaugural spring season with five dual matches in Abilene over the weekend.

The Javelinas played matches at McMurry, at Hardin-Simmons and at #6 Abilene Christian in addition to playing neutral site matches on ACU’s campus against Prairie View A&M and UT-Permian Basin.

Freshman Danielle Moore (San Antonio/Madison HS) won her first match of the weekend against McMurry’s Dana Lemieux in straight sets 6-1, 7-5 in the #1 singles position.  Later in the weekend, she teamed with Lindle Pennington (Wharton/Wharton HS) to defeat UT-Permian Basin’s #1 doubles team of Breigh Shotwell and Ynez Sanchez, 8-5.

The Javelinas are back in action on Friday, February 17 at 2 p.m. in their first-ever home match against UT-Pan American.
